Are You Nearing Retirement?
When to Retire

Normal retirement age | Early retirement | Late retirement

“When should I retire?”

Most people equate the time to retire with Social Security’s “normal retirement age.” However, retirement is possible at all different ages, depending on your preferences, your benefits, and your savings. Nowadays, lots of people retire early … because of an incentive from their employers, or perhaps because they have enough money set aside. Others may retire “on time” (based on Social Security’s definition) and still others may never completely “retire” from work. How about you? Here are the alternatives, each with pros and cons.

Normal retirement age
Early retirement
Late retirement
