CEO of ING U.S. Wealth Management

Kathleen Murphy is Chief Executive Officer of ING U.S. Wealth Management. Her responsibilities include leading a range of businesses including its Defined Contribution (401K, 457, 403b) segments, the Rollover/Payout business, both the Fixed and Variable Annuities businesses and the ING Advisors Network business unit.

Previously, she was General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer for ING’s U.S. business, with responsibility for the legal, compliance, human resource, government affairs, internal and external communications, community relations and the philanthropic functions. Kathleen joined ING in 2000, after ING’s acquisition of Aetna Financial Services.

Kathleen holds a Juris Doctorate degree with highest honors from the University of Connecticut, and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Economics and Political Science from Fairfield University.

Kathleen has served on a variety of regulatory, industry and business commissions and task forces across the country. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of America’s Promise and on its Executive Committee, on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Business and Industry Association and on its Executive Committee, the Advisory Board of the Smurfit School of Business, University of Dublin, Ireland, the Board of Directors of the University of Connecticut Foundation and on the Board of Directors of ING Canada, a public company in Canada that is a leader in the property and casualty market. She is also serving as the Chairperson of the American Heart Associations “Go Red for Women” campaign in Connecticut. Kathleen has been named one of the Fifty Most Powerful Women in American business by Fortune magazine as well as being recognized by one of Wall Street’s top 50 and the Business 100 list by Irish America Magazine.
