ING sponsors Martin Luther King events

Published Date: 01/19/2006

ING helped keep Martin Luther King’s dream alive by sponsoring concerts in his honor in both Atlanta and Hartford. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s “King Celebration Concert” was held on Thursday, Jan. 12, at Dr. King’s alma mater, Morehouse College. The Hartford Symphony performed its seventh annual “Concert Celebrating the Legacy of Martin Luther King” on Sunday, Jan. 15. The concerts engaged audiences in the work of outstanding African-American artists and included compositions that reflected the African-American experience.

In addition to the concerts, ING sponsored the “2006 Salute to Greatness Awards Dinner,” presented by the National King Center in Atlanta. Dr. King’s children, Yolanda, Dexter and Bernice, hosted the event and there was a touching surprise appearance by Mrs. Coretta Scott King, who has been recovering from a recent stroke. All of these sponsorships support ING’s commitment to diversity; ING is helping people achieve their dreams by supporting education and creating economic opportunities for individuals from diverse backgrounds.
