Brian Comer is president of Public Markets for ING U.S. Retirement Services, one of the nation’s largest defined contribution plan providers. In this role he is responsible for the management of ING’s 403(b) and 457 education, government,healthcare and not-for-profit market segments as well as publicmarket distribution, captive and independent channel distributionmanagement, product development, third-party administration management, industry relations and client relationship management.He is also a member of ING’s Global Management Council.

Comer began his career with Aetna Financial Services in 1978, which was later acquired by ING in 2000. He spent the majority of his career in sales management in the defined benefit and defined contribution marketplace. He was national director of the 457 Deferred Compensation business and field vice president responsible for the 403(b) and 457 businesses. In addition to his sales background, Comer was president of ING Life Insurance and Annuity Company and managed the P&L, product development, asset retention/rollover product development, actuarial and finance, and market strategies for ING’s 401(k), 403(b) and 457 businesses.

Comer holds a BA degree in Economics from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Conn., and FINRA Series 6, 7, 24, and 63 licenses. He is also on the Board of America’s Promise Alliance in Washington, D.C., and is heavily involved in the Boys and Girls Club of Hartford.

Additionally, Comer is a member of the National Association of State Treasurers and National Deferred Compensation Administrators. He is involved with the Special Olympics for New York and Connecticut and is a board member for the Nutmeg State Games and University of Connecticut Business School. He has been married for more than 30 years to wife Nancy and has two children, Erin and Tim.
